Wow. This is going back a bit but away back in mid-July, we reported the news that Johnny Depp’s production company Infinitum Nihil and Disney were teaming up to bring us an all-new, big screen version of The Night Stalker, with Depp himself slated to play the lead role of investigative journalist, Carl Kolchak.
Truth be told, I had forgotten all about this, until now.
Now, Deadline are reporting that Edgar Wright of Shaun Of The Dead, Hot Fuzz and Scott Pilgrim fame has been lined up to handle direction on the project.
No writer is in place at present but Wright, Depp and Christi Dembrowski will work together on overseeing the project.
Aside from The Munsters, Twin Peaks, American Gothic and Dark Shadows, the one old American show I always rave about is the mid 70′s supernatural reporter/detective series, Kolchak: The Night Stalker, which starred the late Darren McGavin as the intrepid journo, who would often find himself facing off against vampires, werewolves and such…
Kolchak: The Night Stalker is available on DVD in the UK so I urge you to check it out if you are a fan of cult US TV shows.
I love Wright’s films. I just got VERY excited.
