This is definitely one for the bold Shengis Khan.
Machete, was one of 2010′s most unashamedly enjoyable movies. Spun off from a mock trailer created for the Rodriguez/Tarantino double header, Grindhouse, it was only a matter of time before the Mexican ex-Federale made the leap to the big screen.
And leap he did, into a balls-out, crazy, violent action flick that starred Danny Trejo as the titular character, alongside such luminaries as Robert De Niro, Jessica Alba, Jeff Fahey, Steven Seagal and…um…Lindsay Lohan.
The end of the film hinted that Machete would return for a sequel, Machete Kills, and a third part, Machete Kills Again. Now, at least one of these films is happening.
Deadline have reported that Robert Rodriguez is teaming with producer Alexander Rodnyansky for Machete Kills, with the hope being that the film will enter production this April. The duo are also hoping to complete the trilogy and are in talks with Trejo to return for both films.
Rodriguez says, “The fan response to the Machete character has been fanatical since his first appearance. Machete is truly a superhero, and Machete Kills will be bigger and more ambitious than the first time.
The synopsis for Machete Kills is as follows,
Machete Kills sees Machete recruited by the U.S. Government for a mission which would be impossible for any mortal man. Machete must battle his way through Mexico to take down a madman cartel leader and an eccentric billionaire arms dealer who has hatched a plan to spread war across the planet with a weapon in space.
Obviously, we will bring you more on this as it comes.
