Grimmfest organisers hosting Ti West double bill…

Our friends in Manchester continue to impress with each new month throwing up an embarrassment of visual riches in the form of their monthly screening events.

Past events included double bills of Four Flies On Grey Velvet/Dellamorte Dellamore and of Demons/Demons 2 and each fresh announcement leads me to contemplate making the 400 mile round trip.

And now they go and drop THIS one on me…

Put plainly, I love the films of Ti West. He knows horror and knows exactly how to create atmosphere and tension. It’s his thing and he is a master of his craft.

So the Grimm-dudes have decided to hold a Ti West double bill night at The Dancehouse, Manchester on May 24th. Those swines are sent to tempt me!

So what’s on show?

The House Of The Devil

The film that really thrust Ti West into the spotlight, The House Of The Devil is a master class in fraught tension and slow-burning horror that builds to a tremendous climax that will simply take your breath away.

It features appearances from Tom Noonan (Manhunter, The Monster Squad), Mary Woronov (Death Race 2000, Warlock) and AJ Bowen (A Horrible Way To Die, Hatchet II) and is a true must-see.

AND…

The Innkeepers

A fantastic, sweet and at times, funny ghost story The Innkeepers charts the last days of the Yankee Pedlar Inn, as it prepares to close its doors for the final time. Claire and Luke, the last remaining employees, continue to go about their business, tending to the needs of the last few (and at times difficult) guests and passing the time investigating the hotel’s dark past and its alleged paranormal phenomena.

An absolute cracker.

The Innkeepers is released on Blu-ray and DVD in the UK on June 25th via Metrodome.

I guess the most important part of all this is the where, when and the costs, eh? Weeeeeell, that’s the good part. BARGAIN. Get there!

Venue: The Dancehouse
Tickets: £7 (Including booking fee).
Start Time: 7.30pm
Cheap bar: Bottle beer from £1.50 per bottle

In addition to all this awesomeness, the organisers have also announced that the main festival will return this year from Friday 5th to Sunday 7th October, 2012 at The Dancehouse.

More info on all this AND the next double bill of Battle Royale and the INSANE Tokyo Gore Police can be found HERE.
