We haven’t had too much to say lately on the subject of Spike Lee’s reworking of Chan-wook Park’s blistering and brutal Oldboy.
So allow me to address that right now with the news that District 9 and The A-Team star Sharlto Copley has now stepped into the breach and agreed to tackle the long-vacant villain role.
Deadline are reporting that Copley will join Josh Brolin and Elizabeth Olsen in the role of Adrian Pryce, “a mysterious billionaire trying to destroy the life of Brolin’s Joe Douchett”. (Douchett? Seriously?)
Principal photography is expected to begin in September.
In addition to this, Copley will also star in Apollo 18 (Guh!) director Gonzalo Lopez-Gallego’s latest offering, Open Grave, in which “Copley’s character wakes up in a pit full of rotting bodies with no idea how he got there, begins to have flashbacks of himself murdering people and starts to believe that he’s the killer”.
Let’s hope that project is better than the, frankly abysmal, Apollo 18.
