It seems like I have been waiting forever for Rob Zombie’s latest flick, The Lords Of Salem.
I FIRST mentioned it on Day 1 of AndyErupts. That, is almost a year ago now. Since that day, I have mentioned it a lot. Casting updates, photos, SFX tests. The works.
It’s nice to know that SOON, I might be able to see some actual footage…in the form of a trailer, to be screened TONIGHT, at a Rob Zombie/Megadeth gig in the US.
Zombie’s own website was recently updated with the following information,
You’ve been asking for it. You’ve been waiting [for] it patiently (well ish). Now, you lucky Zombieheads who will be at the first Zombie/Megadeth show on Friday 11 May at the PNC Bank Arts Center are in for a real treat.
The first trailer for his upcoming and eagerly awaited new film The Lords of Salem will be premiered at the kick-off show. The film finished post production a few weeks ago. It is Rob Zombie’s third independant film and his first since he directed Halloween 2.
So, based on this, I’d expect a large number of poor quality mobile phone videos of the trailer to flood the internet before I wake up tomorrow morning.
The Lords Of Salem stars Sid Haig (House of 1000 Corpses, The Devil’s Rejects), Meg Foster (They Live), Ernest Thomas (Malcolm X), Jeff Daniel Phillips (Zombie’s Halloween II), Torsten Voges (8mm), Bruce Davidson (Munger Road), Sheri Moon Zombie (Zombie’s Halloween, The Devil’s Rejects), Dee Wallace (The Howling, Cujo), Billy Drago (The Hills Have Eyes 2006), Richard Lynch (Zombie’s Halloween, Laid to Rest), Lisa Marie (Sleepy Hollow, Mars Attacks!), Maria Conchita Alonso (The Running Man, Predator 2), Ken Foree (The Devil’s Rejects, Dawn of the Dead), Christopher Knight (The Brady Bunch) and Michael Berryman (The Hills Have Eyes 1977, The Devil’s Rejects).
The synopsis is as follows,
“Heidi, a blonde rock chick, DJs at a local radio station and, together with the two Hermans (Whitey and Munster), forms part of the “Big H Radio Team”.
A mysterious wooden box containing a vinyl record arrives for Heidi, “a gift from the Lords”. She assumes it’s a rock band on a mission to spread their word. As Heidi and Whitey play the Lords’ record, it starts to play backwards, and Heidi experiences a flashback to a past trauma.
Later Whitey plays the Lords’ record, dubbing them the Lords of Salem, and to his surprise, the record plays normally and is a massive hit with listeners.
The arrival of another wooden box from the Lords presents the Big H Team with free tickets, posters and records to host a gig in Salem. Soon Heidi and her cohorts find that the gig is far from the rock spectacle they’re expecting: The original Lords of Salem are returning, and they’re out for BLOOD.”
