On this day in horror…
1939 sees the birth of Sir Ian McKellen. Known to many for his roles as Gandalf in the Lord of the Rings films and as Magneto in the X-Men franchise, McKellen has contributed to the horror genre through his roles in such films as The Keep, the upcoming The Curse of the Buxom Strumpet and played James Whale (the director of 1931′s Frankenstein and numerous horror films) in Gods and Monsters.
1970. Director Neil Marshall is born. Marshall is the man behind British horror films such as: Dog Soldiers, Doomsday and The Descent.
1976. Cillian Murphy is born. Familiar to many from his roles in films such as Inception, Batman Begins and TRON: Legacy; Murphy has starred in genre films such as: Retreat, Sunshine and 28 Days Later.
