1953. Music composer Danny Elfman is born. Noted for his work on the scores for such TV shows as The Simpsons and Desperate Housewives, Elfman has contributed to the horror genre through his scores of: Corpse Bride, The Frighteners, Red Dragon, Bordello of Blood, Sleepy Hollow, The Wolfman, Nightbreed and many more!

1957 sees the birth of Ted Levine who has starred in genre films such as: 2006′s The Hills Have Eyes, The Mangler and will be seen in the upcoming The Banshee Chapter. However, undoubtedly his greatest horror turn came when he portrayed Jame Gumb AKA Buffalo Bill in The Silence of the Lambs.

1957 also marks the passing of genre legend James Whale who directed numerous horror movies including The Invisible Man and The Old Dark Horse. He is best known as the man at the helm for the iconic films 1931′s Frankenstein and 1935′s Bride of Frankenstein.
