US Network Lifetime developing series around Thomas Harris’ Clarice Starling…

Thomas Harris has got to be an excited man right now.

The author of Red Dragon, The Silence Of The Lambs, Hannibal and Hannibal Rising will soon see his iconic serial killer, Dr. Hannibal Lecter, hit the small screen in Bryan Fuller’s NBC-driven TV series, Hannibal, which charts the early relationship beween Lecter and FBI investigator Will Graham (Will Dancy).

I think it could be pretty exciting, depending on who is selected to portray Lecter.

However, there is still one of Harris’ protagonists who does not appear to get a look in. FBI Special Agent Clarice M. Starling.

Well, FEAR NOT. Starling will soon be appearing in her own TV show.

TV Guide has reported that US Network, Lifetime, are currently in development on Clarice, which would follow the exploits of a young Clarice Starling soon after she graduates from the FBI academy.

Clarice Starling has already been portrayed on screen by Jodie Foster in Jonathan Demme’s 1991 adaptation of The Silence Of The Lambs, a performance that earned Foster a Best Actress Academy Award, and again in 2001 by Julianne Moore in Ridley Scott’s Hannibal.

More as it comes…
