Given the incredible takings that James Watkins’ The Woman In Black raked in at the Box Office, it was perhaps a given that Hammer would look to continue the series a little further. So, of course, a sequel was announced back in April with Hammer looking to strike while the iron is hot.
Now, however, it seems that the recently resurrected studio may have plans beyond a simple sequel…
BleedingCool have reported that Hammer CEO Simon Oakes took to the stage at a special screening of The Woman in Black on Thursday night for a Q&A session that saw him tease a little bit of information regarding the future of The Woman In Black…
While talking a little about the follow-up film, Oakes went on to remark that, if this second instalment is a success then The Woman In Black could return again…and again…
Oakes said, “I also think with a bit of luck, The Woman in Black is sort of like the brand… we won’t count our chickens but absolutely. Plans are afoot.”
The synopsis for the second film is as follows,
Seized by the government and converted into a military mental hospital during World War II, the sudden arrival of disturbed soldiers to Eel Marsh House has awoken its darkest inhabitant. Eve, a beautiful young nurse, is sent to the house to care for the patients, but soon realises she must save them from more than their own demons. Despite Eve’s efforts to stop her, one by one they fall victim to the Woman in Black.
More on this as it comes…
The Woman In Black is released TODAY on DVD and Blu-ray via Momentum Pictures Home Entertainment.
