Prometheus co-writer brought in to rescue World War Z

There has been much controversy and criticism of Marc Forster’s World War Z; the project hasn’t been faithful to the source material, the release date delayed by 6 months and the recent news that extensive reshoots were underway. Even so, we here at AndyErupts are still eagerly awaiting seeing what the film adaptation of Max Brooks’ bestselling work will be like…

News regarding the further fate of WWZ has broken that Damon Lindelof has been brought in to salvage the script of this project and in particular, focusing on the third act of World War Z. Lindelof himself comes with a fair pedigree, being the co-creator of Lost and co-writing Ridley Scott’s Prometheus.

The film starring Brad Pitt (Se7en, Fight Club, Interview with the Vampire) , Matthew Fox (Lost, Vantage Point) and David Morse (The Green Mile, Disturbia) and produced by Pitt’s Plan B company sees “United Nations employee Gerry Lane (Pitt), traverse the world in a race against time to stop the Zombie pandemic that is toppling armies and governments and threatening to decimate humanity itself”. Those of you who are familiar with the source material will recognise that the above outline is significantly different from the plot of the book itself…

World War Z is expected on cinema screens in summer 2013.
