1980 marks the passing of noted horror director Terence Fisher. Fisher’s work in the genre includes: The Curse of Frankenstein, Dracula: Prince of Darkness, Island of Terror, The Devil Rides Out, The Gorgon, The Mummy and many more!

1982. German actor Curt Jurgens suffers a fatal heart attack on stage in Vienna. Jurgens starred in genre films such as The Vault of Horror, The Mephisto Waltz and The Sleep of Death but is arguably best known for his turn as the Bond villain Karl Stromberg in The Spy Who Loved Me.

2003 sees the French release of Haute Tension. Known in English speaking countries as Switchblade Romance and directed by Alexandre Aja (2006′s The Hills Have Eyes, Mirrors, Piranha 3D), this film received a mixed reception from critics but has a loyal following among genre fans.
