1967 sees the birth of Oscar winning actress Nicole Kidman whose contribution to the genre comes from her roles in: The Others, The Stepford Wives, The Invasion; and will be seen in Wentworth Miller’s Stoker.
1968. Robert Rodriguez is born. Rodriguez’s directorial duties on such films as Planet Terror, From Dusk Till Dawn, Machete and The Faculty have earned him his mention in today’s TDiH. However, I feel duty-bound to mention that he is also responsible for the Spy Kids films.
1975 sees the US release of the first summer blockbuster, Jaws. Based on the novel by Peter Benchley, directed by Steven Spielberg and with a stellar cast including Roy Scheider, Richard Dreyfuss and Robert Shaw; Jaws has, to date, taken $470 million worldwide.
