1953. Aussie director Russell Mulcahy is born. Perhaps best known for his work on music videos and Highlander, Mulcahy has helmed fright flicks such as: Resurrection, Tale of the Mummy, Resident Evil: Extinction, The Curse of King Tut’s Tomb, some episodes of Tales from the Crypt and the TV series version of Teen Wolf; and Aussie horror Razorback.
1964 sees the birth of the Geek’s Geek, American writer, producer and director Joss Whedon. He co-wrote and directed the current cinema smash Avengers Assemble and his genre contributions come from his work on the Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel TV series and co-writing and producing The Cabin in the Woods; and his work on the Alien Resurrection script.
1976. Canadian actress Emmanuelle Vaugier is born. Vaugier’s contribution to the horror genre comes from her roles in: Wishmaster 3, The Fear: Resurrection, Ripper, Saw II and IV, Cerberus, Mirrors 2, Unearthed and House of the Dead 2.
