On this day in horror…
1961. Director Timur Bekmambetov is born. Currently Hollywood hot property, Bekmambetov has directed Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter, the big screen adaptation of Mark Millar’s Wanted; and awesome Russian films Night Watch and Day Watch.
1976 sees the US theatrical release of The Omen. Based on the David Seltzer novel of the same name and starring Gregory Peck, The Omen was a massive commercial success, grossing $60 million in the US alone on a budget of less than $3 million.
1982 marks the US release of one of my all-time favourite horror movies, John Carpenter’s The Thing.
