1920 sees the birth of pioneering special effects legend, Ray Harryhausen, whose visual effects brought to life the creatures in such films as: Clash of the Titans, The Valley of Gwangi, Jason and the Argonauts, The Golden Voyage of Sinbad and Mighty Joe Young. Harryhausen was awarded an honorary Oscar in 1992 in recognition of his contribution to the film industry.
1944. Hollywood hellraiser Gary Busey is born. Famous perhpas more now for his off-screen behaviour, Busey has starred in genre films such as: The Gingerdead Man, Piranha 3DD, Succubus: Hell-bent, Frost: Portrait of a Vampire, Predator 2, Silver Bullet; and will be seen in upcoming horror flick, Mansion of Blood.
1957. Maria Conchita Alonso is born. This former Miss Venezuela has starred in fright flicks such as: The Dead One, Vampire’s Kiss, Predator 2, Dark Moon Rising; and will be seen in upcoming horrors Arachnaconda and Rob Zombie’s The Lords of Salem.
