As horror fans, you will know that things very rarely go wrong when a bunch of friends load up for a weekend filled with booze drugs and sex. As a rule, things generally go to plan, everyone has a great night and comes back home with a hangover, a comedown and a whole new heap of stories to tell.
Ahem. Of course, that’s not the case in horror. EVER. Things ALWAYS go awry. People die. The more the better.
So, on to director Jonas Stolpe’s desert-based flick, Dead Stop, and its recently released trailer.
From the Press Release
DEAD STOP is about a group of teenagers who set out on a ski trip only to have their vacation thwarted when their van breaks down in the middle of the California desert. One by one, the teenagers mysteriously disappear. With limited water and food supplies, they must make a choice to stay in the van or take their chances going out into the desert to look for help.
“We’re extremely excited to share DEAD STOP with audiences everywhere. This project has been a labor of love from the beginning, and Kimberley Kates and the rest of the team at BSEG are exactly the kind of passionate, energetic sales team that we strive to collaborate with,” said director Jonas Stolpe.
DEAD STOP was co-produced by Sam Hurwitz and Jonas Stolpe.
“With Sam and Jonas’ experience on big budget films, we are thrilled about this new movie and the nail-biting suspense they have created,” stated BSEG CEO Kimberley Kates.
So what’s going on in this trailer exactly? What is the mysterious “thing” causing these friends such difficulties. I’m having flashes of Tape 407: The Mesa Reserve Incident, minus the found footage element. I sincerely hope that I am mistaken.
More as it comes.
