Hollywood website Deadline have reported that Eli Roth (Cabin Fever, Hostel I and II) is in talks to direct the vampire detective flick Harker with Russell Crowe signed up to play the creature of the night, Dracula, himself!
Harker, a script penned by relative newcomers Lee Shipman and Brian McGreevy, tells the tale of Scotland Yard detective Johnathan Harker chasing the trail of Dracula in what Warner Bros hopes will be a franchise of dark sleuth movies. But Dracula (or more precisely Russell Crowe) would only be appearing in the first movie. The title role is as yet uncast.
Original director Jaume Collet-Serra (Unknown, Orphan) had sidelined the project whilst he tried to get the live action remake of Akira in full swing but apparently that project has now been shelved for the time being and he has since moved on to work on Nonstop, a Joel Silver production, which will reunite him with Unknown‘s leading man Liam Neeson.
More as it comes..
