OK. So even though the film is still shooting, Robert Rodriguez is still adding new names to the huge, woman-heavy cast for his upcoming sequel, Machete Kills.
The latest one, however, might just be the most interesting one of all.
Rodriguez has announced that Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta, better known as “mad as a box of frogs” pop queen, Lady Gaga, has joined the cast as “La Chameleon”.
Gaga joins a cast that includes William Sadler, Charlie Sheen, Sofia Vergara, Electra and Elise Avellan, Edward James Olmos, Mel Gibson, Michelle Rodriguez, Jessica Alba, Amber Heard, Demian Bichir, Zoe Saldana, Alexa Vega and of course, Danny Trejo, as the titular bad-ass.
The film sees Machete recruited by the U.S. government to stop a terrorist named Mendez the Madman, who happens to be Mexico’s leading cartel dealer. Mel Gibson is set to co-star as Luther Voz, a cunning arms dealer and death merchant who aims to spread war across the planet by launching a missile.
