Latest news checks in for Bates Motel…

Back in mid-January, we reported the news that US network A&E were gearing up for a TV show that would once again see the doors opem on the most infamous motel in cinema history.

A & E announced plans for Bates Motel, an original TV series, which will look further into the disturbing relationship between motel proprietor Norman Bates and his domineering mother and his journey towards becoming one of the big screen’s most famous serial killers.

Then it all went quiet…

Until now, as Deadline are now reporting that Bates Motel is set to bypass the all-too-important pilot episode and head straight-to-series with former Lost scribe Carlton Cuse to act as Executive Producer alongside writer-producer Kerry Ehrin (Friday Night Lights).

A 10 part series is in development and the team behind it are confident they can do Mr Hitchcock’s iconic characters justice.

Opinion will be divided on this one no doubt, with fans of the original looking for more details, in particular who will be filling the sizeable shoes of Anthony Perkins.

Expect Bates Motel some time in 2013.

AndyErupts will be keeping a close eye on this project and provide all updates as and when we get them.
