Wood Evil, a new horror film, apparently set to be filmed in Inchnacardoch Forest, near Fort Augustus in the Highlands, is believed to be a scam, police have warned, after the Northern Constabulary and the Highland Film Commission said they knew nothing about the project.
The “company” behind the film have allegedly been asking prospective extras to pay a £60 fee to appear in the film, which in itself, is a highly unusual offer. “Film companies would not ask for money from a potential extra.” announced the police on their website.
Tour company VisitScotland are believed to be the ones who raised the alarm after being contacted regarding the scam. Several people had been contacted via email saying they had been selected, as well as posting adverts on sites such as Gumtree.
“Police are advising anyone who is approached in such a manner not to pay any monies to the company and contact police with information.”
If you have been approached, Police are looking for leads and more information on the matter, and ask you to telephone them on 0845 6005703 or confidentially on Crimestoppers 0800 555 111.
Keep horror films legal, please.
