Those lucky, lucky people who live stateside and attending San Diego’s Comic-con next week will be welcomed by a new banner for the The Evil Dead reboot, set to be released in 2013.
The banner, which reads ‘A new vision from the producers of the original horror classic’ promises a release date of Spring 2013.
This time around the film will be a much darker imagining and one can only hope filled with a hell of a lot of blood, guts and gore!
The storyline has some very obvious similarities to the original. It will be set in a cabin in the woods, where a group of friends are staying. The friends find the Book of the Dead and inadvertently release a host of demons hell bent on terrorising the friends. Jane Levy (Shameless USA) and Shiloh Fernandez (Red Riding Hood, Gossip Girl) will take the lead roles as brother and sister, who go to the cabin in order to help Mia overcome her addictions and become sober. Disappointingly there is no Ash Williams in the Reboot, although this is probably a good thing as no one but good ol’ Bruce Campbell could fill that role.
While I’m not a fan of remakes, I am looking forward to this one. With Sam Raimi involved and Bruce Campbell as a producer on the film, here’s hoping that the reboot of The Evil Dead won’t end up being another film that should have just been left alone.
More on this one as it comes…
