On this day in horror…

 

1911 marks the birth of Terry-Thomas. Noted for his screen portrayals of cads, toffs and bounders, Thomas has starred in genre films such as: The Vault of Horror, The Hound of the Baskervilles, The Abominable Dr Phibes, Munster Go Home! and Dr Phibes Rises Again.

1939. Genre favourite Sid Haig is born. Perhaps best known for his roles in Rob Zombie’s The Devil’s Rejects and House of 1000 Corpses as Captain Spaulding, Haig has also starred in: Galaxy of Terror, Creature, Dark Moon Rising, House of the Dead 2 and upcoming Rob Zombie flick The Lords of Salem.

1961. Jackie Earle Haley is born. Haley is undoubtedly best-known for his turn as Rorschach in Watchmen but he has also starred in genre films such as: Maniac Cop 3, Tim Burton’s Dark Shadows; and took the role of Freddy Krueger in the 2010 remake of A Nightmare on Elm Street.
