1926. Harry Dean Stanton is born. Busy actor Stanton has been active in the business for over seven decades and has more than 180 credits to his name. Stanton’s horror roles include: Monster Maker, John Carpenter’s screen adaptation of Stephen King’s Christine and of course, Alien.
1941. American writer, director and producer Larry Cohen is born. His contributions to the genre include his work on films such as: Return to Salem’s Lot, It’s Alive, Maniac Cop and one of my favourite creature features from my youth, Q- The Winged Serpent.
1951 sees the birth of Jesse Ventura. This Vietnam veteran, Governor of Minnesota and former pro-wrestler, managed to fit in starring in a couple of movies in his life, including genre films The Running Man and Shengis Khan’s favourite, Predator.
