On this day in horror…

 

1935. The Raven gets its US theatrical release. Based around Edgar Allan Poe’s poem, this film version starred horror legends Bela Lugosi and Boris Karloff.

1958. Kevin Bacon is born. Not primarily known for his work in the genre, Bacon has starred in some of the more recognisable horror flicks of the last few decades such as: Flatliners, Tremors, Stir of Echoes, Friday the 13th and will be seen in upcoming horror comedy R.I.P.D.

1991 marks the passing of James Franciscus. A graduate of Yale University, Franciscus featured as a leading man in many genre films including: Killer Fish, The Last Shark, Cat o’ Nine Tails and Beneath the Planet of the Apes.
