We haven’t heard much about this lately and with this latest slice of news, it seems that the wheels are still very much in motion, though perhaps they are a little better oiled and run just a little bit quieter than the wheels on so many other high-profile remakes.
So, while we already know that Samuel L. Jackson will be appearing in Jose Padilha’s reboot of RoboCop, it seems that he may also be bound for Lee’s English language remake of Chan-wook Park’s Oldboy.
The Los Angeles Times have received word from “a person close to the production who was not authorized to talk about it publicly”, that Jackson will join the production, alongside composer Bruce Hornsby.
As per the LA Times, “Jackson has come on board for a small but critical part in the new film, according to a person close to the production who was not authorized to talk about it publicly. The actor will play the man who is being tortured by the hero (Brolin) in a key revenge scene.”
Jackson will join the previously announced Josh Brolin, who tackles the protagonist role of Joe Douchett, whose life is thrown into turmoil when he is imprisoned for 15 years, without any apparent reason by mysterious billionaire, Adrian Pryce, played by District 9‘s Sharlto Copley. Elizabeth Olsen will also star.
More as it comes…
