John Travolta to join Toxic Avenger remake..?

Um OK. Unexpected indeed…and a little weird, though to be honest, there’s so much that’s weird about John Travolta’s behaviour of late that nothing at all will surprise me.

However, this news? This is weird. Potentially.

Website It’s On The Grid have listed the Carrie and Face/Off actor as, well, the only announced actor so far, in Hot Tub Time Machine helmsman Steve Pink’s re-working of Troma Entertainment’s classic The Toxic Avenger.

Eh? Well, this news is currently unconfirmed and there is no word on exactly what role Travolta might enjoy in a project such as this one. Time will tell.

Released in 1984 and the first foray into “horror” for Troma, The Toxic Avenger has, to date, spawned three direct sequels, a musical and a TV spin-off series entitled Toxic Crusaders.

The Toxic Avenger is the story of mild-mannered cleaner Melvin, a bully’s dream. He soon finds himself dunked into a barrel of toxic sludge and little, meek Melvin becomes a 200lb muscle-bound hero.

More as it comes.
