This Day in Horror – August 18th

On this day in horror…

1933, Roman Polanski is born. To say that Polanski has lived a colourful life is an understatement. A concentration camp survivor, his ex-wife, Sharon Tate, was murdered by members of Charles Manson’s “family” in 1969 and the controversial director is now unable to enter the US for fear of being incarcerated on a long-running statutory rape charge. Polanski has directed the psychological thriller Repulsion, The Ninth Gate, The Fearless Vampire Killers and the classic Rosemary’s Baby.

1951, Teri McMinn is born. McMinn is best known for her role as Pam, or “the meat-hook girl” in Tobe Hooper’s genre-defining The Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

1969, Christian Slater is born. Slater has appeared in films such as Interview With The Vampire, Hollow Man II, Alone In The Dark and Playback.
