1890, Howard Phillips Lovecraft is born. Better known by his first initials, Lovecraft has become synonymous with dark cosmic horror, thanks to his books and stories such as The Dunwich Horror, The Whisperer In Darkness, The Shadow Over Innsmouth and The Call of Cthulhu. His novels and short stories have provided the basis for many well known horror films including Lucio Fulci’s Gates of Hell Trilogy, Stuart Gordon’s Re-Animator.
1947, Ray Wise is born. Genre favourite Wise has appeared as Leland Palmer in Twin Peaks and has also enjoyed roles in Swamp Thing, Jeepers Creepers 2, Excision, Chillerama, The Butterfly Room and The Aggression Scale.
1962, James Marsters is born. Marsters is undoubtedly best known for his role as vampire Spike in Buffy The Vampire Slayer and Angel.
