It’s fair to say that Meir Zarchi’s 1978 shocker I Spit On Your Grave is something of a divisive film.
Most people you talk to will decry it as a mindless exercise in rape and brutality that should never have befouled cinema screens with its vile trash… yadda yadda. On the other hand, there are others, including many feminists, who hold the film as an important, empowering film.
Whatever camp you fall into, you could be forgiven for thinking that I Spit On Your Grave was a film that, due to its content, would escape the remake treatment. That was, until 2010, when Steven R. Monroe remade it.
However, surely that film is immune to a sequel? Right?
WRONG. It’s coming and it will be titled, unbelievably, I Spit On Your Grave Too!
The synopsis is as follows,
Naturally beautiful, Jessica has just settled into New York where she, like many other young women, is trying to make it as a model. But what starts out as an innocent and simple photo shoot soon turns into something disturbingly unthinkable! Raped, tortured, and kidnapped to a foreign country, Jessica is buried alive and left to die. Against all odds, she manages to escape. Severely injured, she will have to tap into the darkest places of the human psyche to not only survive but exact her revenge…
Monroe will once again direct, from a screenplay by Thomas Fenton.
