SIGH!
Well, in today’s modern horror landscape, nothing ever ends. Nothing is ever over or ever explained in sufficient detail to warrant the big studios turning their back on a sure-fire money-making franchise.
SAW outstayed its welcome and now it seems like Paranormal Activity may do the same with the announcement, less than a week after the release of the fourth entry in the series, that Paramount have signed off on a fifth installment, despite the film failing to match the opening weekend success of Paranormal Activity 3.
Deadline have reported that the fifth installment should hit cinemas at this time next year, unsurprisingly.
In addition to this, GET THIS, Deadline have also uncovered evidence of an upcoming, Latino-flavoured spin-off from the franchise, with screenwriter and director Christopher Landon (Disturbia) set to bring us the as yet untitled movie.
This spin-off will include the demon from the PA franchise and star mostly Latino actors and film partly in Spanish. ”This will be an off-shoot aimed at the groups who have been the biggest supporters of the property – Latinos and folks in Latin America – Mexico, Brazil, and Argentina,” said a Paramount insider.
More on both of these as they come…
