With speculation still rife that NBC may yet pull the plug on Bryan Fuller’s Munsters-redux Mockingbird Lane and with the Bryan Singer directed pilot set to screen as a Halloween special on October 26th, it’s still very much a “will-it, won’t it” scenario for the modern Munsters.
However, to whet the appetites of viewing audiences, NBC has released the below trailer.
The future of the show still rests on the reception that the “special” receives, although, judging from the below trailer, I am not exactly leaping for joy.
Mockingbird Lane stars Jerry O’Connell (Scream 2, Piranha 3D) as Herman, Portia De Rossi (Scream 2) as Lily, Eddie Izzard (Valkyrie, Ocean’s Thirteen) as Grandpa, Charity Wakefield as “normal” Munster, Marilyn, and Mason Cook as Eddie. The pilot will be directed by Bryan Singer (X-Men, Superman Returns).
Mockingbird Lane will focus on 10-year-old Eddie Munster who is unaware that he’s a werewolf, and that his family is composed of terrifying creatures. The madness begins when a baby bear attacks a scouting trip, only it turns out that this “bear” is actually Eddie transformed into a werewolf. Eddie is unaware of his metamorphosis and it forces the family to move in order to protect the family secret. The coming of age story gets weirder as he fights against his family when he learns of a shocker: they’re a family of flesh-eaters!
Lily Munster has an eating disorder and eats suicide victims. Grandpa Munster is a 600-year-old shapeshifter, and Marilyn Munster was adopted when her mother tried to eat her as a baby.
More as it comes…
